What do you do at SCORE?
SCORE is a nationwide business mentoring organization that supports entrepreneurs and small business owners start, grow and or succeed. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit resource partner of the US Small Business Administration (SBA).
Who gives this advice?
The volunteers of the SCORE Northeast Massachusetts Chapter. We have over 35 retired and practicing professionals, business executives and small business owners who want to share our expertise.
How much does it cost?
There is no cost for individual counseling. Some workshops or seminars have a small fee.
How often can I meet with SCORE counselors?
You can come back for as many sessions as you wish. Each session will last for approximately one hour. SCORE counselors will remain interested in your progress and will follow up to see how you are progressing.
What qualifies SCORE volunteers to give business advice?
The key qualification SCORE counselors bring the table is real-world experience. SCORE volunteers have specific industry and general business expertise. Counselors may be retired business owners, business executives or operations managers.
Are my business's secrets safe with SCORE?
Yes. All SCORE counselors honor the client's right to proprietary and confidential information. That information remains confidential as provided by the National SCORE Association's Code of Ethics. Each Counselor is required to reaffirm his or her personal commitment to the national Code of Ethics each year.
Where does SCORE Northeast Massachusetts operate?
We have 12 branches throughout Essex and Middlesex Counties. Most of the branches are hosted by local Chambers of Commerce but some are in banks or other sites. In most cases, our hosts help schedule our appointments as well as provide our meeting space.

How do I choose a location?
We suggest choosing reviewing the branch locations where we counsel and the days that each branch counsels to determine which location is most convenient for you.

To cancel, please contact the person with whom you made the appointment, either by phone or email. We respectfully ask that if you need to cancel your appointment, please give us at least 24 hours notice so that another client can fill your spot and maximize the value of our counselors' time.
